A slow pace fiction-based novel might not be as popular as other genres, like thriller, dystopian, or science fiction, especially if it is written by a new writer like me.

A few years ago, I took a Continuing Education Course in Creative Writing at Temple University. It was the first time I started writing fiction in English, which is not my native tongue. It was also my first step in re-starting creative writing after decades of hiatus since leaving high school. When the teacher asked students to write a story, the only idea that came to my mind was the love story of my parents. So I wrote fiction inspired by their one moment.

I had lots of feedback from my teacher and classmates and did a few revisions. After finishing the course, I submitted it to a magazine but got a rejection. I revised it, submitted it to another one, and got a rejection again. The piece had received dozens of feedback, gone through countless edits, and received many rejections. Then I put it in my folder for almost a year and didn’t touch it at all. I had no idea how to revise and make it published.
